Well,I heard dis in aftrnun today from a friend of mine..The Moment I heard it,I was dumbstruck.I had nothing to say.She told me that in their college(not taking the name,an engineering colg),they are going to have fashion show,ramp walk in d auspicious occasion of saraswati puja..
"My GOD,wat dis girl is saying??"-This was my first reaction when i heard it.
Goddess Saraswati is considered as the goddess for education in hindu mythology.And wat respect ar we showing to the godess?? A fashion show!!!
Its has been years,from when the seriousness of the worshippers and the piousness of the puja has vanished.Loud music is played on the mandaps in the puja dayz,and the cheap item songs supress the voice of the slokas orated during the puja.Well,u cant ask people of evry strata of the society to worship god with a piousness and not dance/enjoy playing loud music.Bt atleast we can expect a lot more decency from the educated people around the state.
And dis college plans to do a fashion show?!! The puja gets into the backseat and the fashion show gets into the front seat..Is this what we are heading towards 21st century modernisation.Lacking pure devotion needed for a puja and walking in skimpy clothes just to show off a decent body wid MA SARASWATI behind the front stage??
I dont know which 'fertile' brains have given rise to this unethical idea.
Im sorry,but i pity their imaginative 'creative'ideas..Fashion Show may be an integral part of a fest,but not a puja!! We r giving rise to these engineers,who lack their common sense,Cramming and passing the exams wont help friends..Its ur improvisations and thoughtprocesses which are gonna lead u towards the glory of an engineer.Bt im afraid,my fellow engineering colleagues lack it..
They may call it the 21st century modernisation,ut to me its a step towards shame..

ReplyDeleteHmmmm....as writing...I can't help appreciating it....But,I am with Meghpeon...to some extent...the festival we celebrate are only the mediums to enjoy ourself in our own way..they are not meant for devotions at all,if u think that way...think about d pandits who utter those auspicious slokas..how much devotion they render toward these ceremonies?? Nil!!!Why they have taken up this profession???Just to make their both ends meet!!They are far more concerned about those rituals...not devotion,dear!!
ReplyDeleteU know..Vivekananda once told...that it's better to play football rather than building a temple....The rule is up to u...in which way u r going to show devotion to the God...as long as your devotion is concerned...you can worship God in any way u like it...it might be by writing blogs...or by composing Telefilm...or it might be by the Fashion show as well...no matter wat you do...do it with d full devotion...& that's the way to worship God.....

Fashion Show according to me is a process where too many brains work on too little clothes with too many ideas to cover too little areas...
And i think dat Fashion Show is a event whic cud hav been done in any damn other day,bt according to our traditions saraswati pujo is done on basant panchami from innumerable years back..So wat i meant to say was dat dis show cud hav been organised on any other day..Y on d day of puja?? dat too highlighting d event and not the puja????

i agree wit meghpeon...if we ppl r so religious minded den y dont we stnd agnst dose ppl who indulge in drinking during d pujas...pujor namei ei deshe sobchey beshi "BHONDAMI" hoy...nd ankan exposing shud'nt hav been an issue...if u quote Hindu mythology den u mst knw dat INDIA is d land of "KAMASUTRA"...many temple inscriptions r der 4 us 2 c...so d main ting shud b devotion in any DAMN way...

The moment he came up wid the idea,he started performing and he was so much devoted to God that tears were rolling down his eyes and flooding the
floor........the monks were absolutely taken aback...as he was standing upside down..in front of the idol...showing his feets.....it was quite an insult to the
church.....the priests went there to stop the sacriledge....& punish the juggler.But they were retained from doing so....since they were startled to see Mother
Mary stepping down from the idol and wiping the tears of her desciple......which these priests inspite of devoting there lives for her failed to achieve.....
They lacked the devotion.....which the juggler had.....this was the reason behind their failure...........SO,dear Ankan.....it's not wat u do.....but how u do it

Hmm..bt as per i know,fashion show ora korche for entertainment,they dont have any feelings of devotions asscociated with it..U r ryt,je amra devotion dekhalei holo,coz,we dnt knw sanskrit,even in our daily prayers we juz pray in our known language,bt with devotion(as tld by u in the stry)..bt here d students r doin it for fun..dats d differenace...
